On March 23, 2019, the whole part of Sanriku Railway Rias Line was opened to traffic. 163km long railroad connects Sakari Station of the southern end and Kuji Station of the northern end.

On March 20, 2020, Sanriku Railway returned to normal operation after it has been damaged by Typhoon Hagibis in Oct 2019.

This time the section between Kamaishi Station and Miyako Station was newly opened.

South Rias Line from Sakari to Kamaishi and North Rias Line from Miyako to Kuji were linked to a single line. Now this railroad was renamed “Sanriku Railway Rias Line”.

Multi-ride pass available on the weekends and holidays

If you are planning to get on Sanriku Railway multiple times on holiday, its multi-ride pass will be useful. In addition to the ticket for unlimited sections, those for limited section are available.

Purchase guide to the special tickets

Please note the following points when purchasing multi-ride pass and stopover ticket.

These tickets cannot be purchased at ticket vending machine and they are only sold at the counter of the station.

So you must buy it a day before using it if you will take the train early morning. Now it does not seem to be on sale in the car.

Ticket Vending Machine

If you do not buy special pass, normal ticket is available at the ticket machine. IC tickets such as ICOCA and PASMO cannot be used because of local train.

In addition, when you get on Rias Line, please step in from the door of the front car. The train run by just one driver will not open the rest of the door. So, please don’t panic.
